Working with Brussels based architecture firm Modulo and engineering firm Ellyps, de Jong Gortemaker Algra Architects have designed a 985-capacity car park for the staff at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels. The architects see this car park as the first point of contact with the hospital next door, and therefore wanted to make it a warm, welcoming space for visitors.

The team have used natural materials throughout the design, making sure the car park has ample day light through its ‘canyon-wall’; it also tries to empathise with the contextual connection of its surroundings. Through the ‘canyon-wall’, light and fresh air even reach the three underground parking floors; above ground, there are two more parking floors and a roof garden that connects to the residencies next door.
