The timeline of the iPhone design

iPhone 5S/5C (Seventh Generation)

Launched: September 2013

Big changes arrived in the design of the iPhone's evolution in 2013, and the arrival of the iPhone 5C meant a cheaper, colourful, plastic-backed model to help battle Android in the mobile middle market.

Aside from the plastic shell and larger battery, the iPhone 5C  was a carbon copy of the iPhone 5 in terms of specs.

As for the iPhone 5S, Apple stuck with minimal changes in design for their ‘S’ range and made more improvements internally. The 5S featured more power, a better camera, and a fancy fingerprint reader hidden under the home button.
