Christmas Tree Décor: London Christmas tree designs 2017
The Singing Tree at the V&A
This year, the V&A Museum is celebrating Christmas with a season inspired by sound and music – including an innovative ‘Singing Tree’ designed by Es Devlin, who has been a stage designer for the Royal Opera House and the National Theatre.
Taking the form of a cloud of floating works (contributed by visitors of the museum), the spectacular installation is an abstract version of a Christmas tree that celebrates the Christmas season. The Singing Tree features digital word projections that create a poem, and is accompanied by a polyphonic soundscape of human and machine generated voices.
Throughout the festive season, visitors are invited to contribute a festive word – either online or as they enter the V&A. These are combined and processed through text and sound algorithms to create the poem structure, creating a truly marvellous visual and audible spectacle.
