Winner announced for My Hotels Group tea box competition

My Groups Hotel and designjunction challenged Architectural Association students during London Design Festival

During London Design Festival last week, My Hotels Group partnered with designjunction to challenge students from the Architectural Association to design a bespoke tea box.

The winning entry by Camilla Tufte Sand will be displayed in each of the 34 newly refurbished double rooms at My Bloomsbury hotel.

The brief asked the students to take inspiration from the hotel's contemporary rooms, designed by Heal's, while taking into account the history of literature, philosophy and the arts in the Bloomsbury area.

The competition was open to all students at the Architectural Association, with three finalists - Sandy Lee, Frederique Parakevas and Camilla Tufte Sand - being selected by a panel of judges including editor of Blueprint Johnny Tucker and Vicky Richardson, director of Architecture, Design and Fashion at the British Council.

Camilla Tufte Sand said of her winning entry: 'Designed to suit the My Bloomsbury, my design was influenced by its urban surroundings, the composed interior as well as the sustainable agenda of the hotel. With Bloomsbury's rich history of academia, culture and as a piece of archetypal London, merging urban both current and past.'

Johnny Tucker added: 'The standard of entries was high and the ideas and approaches extremely varied. There were a number of ideas that, if realised, I would be delighted to find in a My Hotels room, in fact in any hotel room!'
