Sports Stadia - the Top 10 Best Sports Stadium Designs 2018
Ericsson Globe
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
The Ericsson Globe is currently the biggest hemispherical building on Earth, with a diameter of 110 metres (361 feet) and an inner height of 85 metres (279 feet). The arena opened on 19th February 1989, after taking two and a half years to build. The stadium was designed by architects Berg Arkitektkontor AB, and the dome-shaped roof is reinforced with 42 tons of steel which are mounted to 70 tonnes of rails.
A symbol for both Stockholm and Sweden, the Ericsson Globe has hosted all kinds of world-class events - from the Hockey World Championships to sold-out concerts from Bruce Springsteen and Beyoncé. It is also where Nelson Mandela held a speech in 1990!
