Raytheon to install AutoTrac III at Chennai airport in India

Raytheon Company, a US-based technology solutions provider, has won a contract from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to automate air traffic control services at the Chennai International Airport.

The contract involves installing AutoTrac III, an air traffic management system to help reduce delays in aircraft arrival and departure. The new system will have real-time meteorological information to assist air traffic controllers in adjusting to changing weather conditions.

The company claims that AutoTrac III features a new generation of flight and surveillance data processing system to ensure air traffic safety.

Besides the Chennai International Airport, Raytheon will also upgrade air traffic management systems at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai and the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and command, control, communications and intelligence systems; as well as a broad range of mission support services.
