Nemours Children's hospital opens in Orlando


A new $397-million hospital named as Nemours Children's Hospital has opened its doors to the patients in Orlando, US.


Designed to provide specialised medical care for children, the new, 630,000 square feet children's hospital is located at Lake Nona Medical City. The hospital is also nearer to Orlando International Airport, providing easy access for families traveling to receive treatment at the hospital.

The facility features 95 beds with televisions providing internet access, Skype, and GetWellNetwork for education, communication and entertainment; 13 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) beds; and 10 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds.

To provide emergency services to the patients, the hospital features an emergency department with 18 private rooms, an ambulatory surgery centre, and an infusion centre for chemotherapy with 14 private rooms.

The rooms at the hospital span 385 square feet. Few large private rooms offer refrigerators, 24-hour room service, and overnight accommodation for parents. It also offers laundry facilities, family lounges, playrooms, and a community stage for live performances.

The hospital also houses a 240-seat, state-of-the-art auditorium; a 230-seat dining room with outdoor terrace as well as outdoor therapy garden located on the fourth floor.

The hospital anchors the 60-acre, fully-integrated Lake Nona Medical City health campus that includes a new Nemours Children's Clinic, and extensive research and education facilities.
