Meet the Future Human at Clerkenwell Design Week with Tarkett and DESSO®

The ‘Future Human’ is the theme for Tarkett and DESSO® at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week, as the flooring specialists’ invite architects and designers to a thought-provoking events programme that will hone in on the human response to work spaces of tomorrow.

Leading the debate, futurologist, author and broadcaster Tom Cheesewright, joins Tarkett to propel visitors into tomorrow’s people-focused spaces. A vision that promises to take personalisation to unprecedented levels to accommodate the future human’s very specific needs, wants and preferences.

“Conversations about the future of work tend to be centred on the impact of new technologies,” explains Tom. “But there will be huge changes to our culture of work as well. We can change our environments and behaviours to maximise human potential and better balance our social and emotional needs with business success."

"Planning for the future of work needs to address all these issues through design that considers both performance and wellbeing."

Continuing the theme of human interaction, Caroline Till, from futures agency, FranklinTill, will take to the stage to explore how tactility and haptic engagement can enhance physical and mental wellbeing in the workplace.

The materiality and design expert, whose new book, ‘Radical Matter: Rethinking Materials for a Sustainable Future’, has received widespread critical acclaim, will argue that considered use of tactility is essential both on a visual and emotional level, but also functionally and ergonomically.

Steve Urwin, Tarkett’s UK Marketing Manager, said: “The Tarkett Desso showroom was the fifth most visited in 2017 and with a combination of stimulating talks, as well as exclusive product previews, interactive VR workshops, exhilarating bar bike tours and some culinary surprises thrown into the mix, this year’s programme is set to be better than ever.”
