Israel's Bnei Sakhnin get new home at Doha Stadium

Doha Stadium in Sakhnin, home to Israeli football club Bnei Sakhnin, is ready after a $4.7 million renovation.

The ILS18 million ($4.7 million approx.) renovations and expansion project of Doha Stadium has added 3,500 new seats and a spacious parking lot to accommodate 400 vehicles. The stadium is ready for the season starting September 2009.

Ground working and landscaping around the stadium is completed and a 1,500 square meter commercial area has also been incorporated into the design. The commercial area features food outlets, changing rooms, and sports and fitness areas. Technologically advanced security systems have also been installed in the facility.

The stadium was built with public funds largely from the State of Israel and the Qatar National Olympic Committee, and was named after the Qatari city of Doha.

The involvement of Qatar was to show that relations between the two nations are peaceful and the stadium is also nicknamed as Peace Stadium.
