Fresno Yosemite Airport in California unveils security screening checkpoint

Fresno Yosemite International Airport in Fresno County, California, has unveiled new security screening checkpoint designed to reduce congestion during peak travel times.

The new 5,000 square feet security screening checkpoint features expanded entrance and exit points, additional seating for post screening convenience, new LCD flight messages and safety monitors, and three central offices for Transportation Security Administration personnel.

The scheme has implemented a unique ‘Sense of Place’ public art project, featuring a giant Sequoia forest highlighting the newly remodeled terminal as a destination in itself. A $27 million Consolidated Rental Car Facility with convenient Ready Return Lots and modernized service facilities has also been created.

With the opening of the new screening area, the airport marks completion of a three-year, $17.2 million terminal modernization and improvement program. The terminal modernization project undertook remodeling of the terminal lobby, installation of a state-of-the-art common use technology, innovative electronic signage and messaging, energy efficient lighting, and carpeting throughout.

The checkpoint at Fresno Yosemite is also expected to accommodate future passenger growth.
