Construction underway for new University of Arizona Cancer Center

Construction work is underway for the new, $100 million University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center/Dignity Health outpatient facility in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Located on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus at 625 N. Sixth St., on the northwest corner of Fillmore and Seventh streets, the facility will be a five-storied, 220,000 square feet building. It has been designed to provide cancer-related services like infusion, radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging and endoscopic/interventional radiology.

The facility will feature a women’s centre, specialised cancer clinics, patient wellness and support services, and a prevention/executive health clinic. In addition to that, the new healthcare facility will also include a clinical lab space and other related support spaces in its boundary.

The UA Cancer Center is one of the 41 comprehensive cancer centres designated by the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. It is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centre headquartered in Arizona and serving the entire state through a network of affiliated health care organisations and community physicians.

The University of Arizona Cancer Center is expected to open by 2015.
