Construction is underway on the new airport terminal of Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar, Senegal, which will feature contemporary interiors designed by Areen Aviation, a UK-based design practice.

Areen's scope of work involved designing the interior layout of the front of house areas within the Main Terminal, the Hajj Terminal and the Presidential Pavilion of the new Blaise Diagne International Airport.

The design of the interiors lend a feel of Senegal. The terminals have been done up in contemporary style, providing international airport style ambience. The design of the airport also pay homage to the rich African culture. The design team has taken care to ensure that the interiors seem to avoid the ‘Airport Anywhere’ solution.

Construction as well as interior fit out of the terminal are scheduled for completion in April 2013. Construction of the airport will entail an investment of €463 million ($561.52 million).
