ARCHITECT@WORK 2017 ANNOUNCES STELLAR LIST OF SPEAKERS AND 100 EUROPEAN EXHIBITORS


An impressive list of industry experts from architecture, engineering and development are set to share their knowledge at ARCHITECT@WORK UK, alongside stands from 100 commercial architectural suppliers. The London edition of the two-day global trade fair aimed at architects, designers and specifiers, is in its fifth year and is being held at Olympia National Hall on 25th and 26th January. The show encourages networking, deal-making and is free to registered visitors with complimentary catering throughout.


All companies that apply to exhibit are scrutinised by an external panel of judges ensuring products are of the highest level. Innovation is always at the forefront of this show. New products and services included are the latest in surface solutions, lighting technology as well as interior and exterior fixtures and fittings.

Established in the Netherlands in 1572, Koninklijke Tichelaar produces custom-made interior and exterior building ceramics and special glazes. One of the highlights being shown in London is their slip casted ceramic façade elements with special glaze, for use in restoration projects.

Natural Stone specialists Levantina owns numerous quarries, offering over 200 different material including Spanish marbles and Brazilian granite. One of the innovations they will present at the show is Techlam®, a thin porcelain product with dimensions of up to 3x1 metres which can be used on floors, walls, facades and even countertops.

Leading international supplier of frameless sliding door systems, Sky-Frame from Switzerland will showcase Sky-Frame Operator (SI-1000), an electromechanical sliding window drive with built-in microprocessor controller. It allows for intelligent opening and closing options and requires minimal space in the ceiling.

Artemide is showing four new lighting products at the show and supplying lighting above the show's bar area. Their new products include Eggboard, a sound-absorbing suspension light and Ameluna, the is the result of Artemide's recent partnership with Mercedes-Benz. Ameluna features an integrated advanced optoelectronic system and the ability to generate numerous atmospheres with the use of a single pioneering RGB spot.

ARCHITECT@WORK will be the UK launch of new bark finishes by Italian wooden flooring company, Cadorin Group established in 1963. The new varnishes show the real colour of several different wood species; they will also show flooring featuring gold dust and gold leaf.

15:00 A Bridge Too Far?

We are drawn to beautiful bridges and the UK has a long history with their design. In this talk we will explore the challenges in creating bridges in difficult places and the ways in which the bridges themselves can become spaces to enjoy and interact with.

Eleanor Young, executive editor RIBAJ, will discuss projects that have been shaped by the natural world with some of the UK's leading architects and designers. They will explore the ways in which landscape, materials and design combine to form spaces for humans to reconsider their role in nature.

17:30 The British Land Interview

Roger Madelin is known as the man behind some of the most successful developments in the UK. He has been appointed by British Land to oversee the development of its Canada Water site.
