Shhh: Keep the noise down!

Following invention of the telephone in 1876, the world’s first telephone box Fernsprechkiosk opened in 1881 at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin.

The red phone box, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, hit Britain’s streets in 1921 and, along with the red post box and the red London bus, is an instantly recognisable British icon. 

100 years later and it’s a fine future for the phone box as Sven’s Product Design Team brings you NatterBox.

In recovery

For years our traditional phone boxes were fast disappearing: a decommissioned dying breed adopted by local communities to convert into miniature libraries or to house vital defibrillators. However, the phone booth is very much alive and, at 140 years old, enjoying a surprise revival.

After some 17 months of Teams calls, Zoom meetings and chatting as loud we like from the comfort of our homes, people returning to the workplace seek solace in soundproofed solutions to escape office noise and keep private calls – well – private.

Hello there

Meet the new NatterBox from Sven: the distraction-free zone designed and made in the West Midlands – the UK’s manufacturing heartland – specifically to provide privacy when taking or making calls in open spaces and office environments.

The insulating structure offers valuable acoustic protection from disruptive sounds, for those both inside and outside the booth.

Chitchat in cloistered comfort

Compact yet spacious enough for a stool, NatterBox is fitted with modern user comforts as standard – carpet, workspace, power, lights and fan – making it the ideal environment for productive virtual meetings and digital dialogue.

Entry triggers a PIR sensor that activates a whisper-quiet extractor system and internal LED strip light. An integral worksurface/shelf matches the carcass, and is fitted with a wireless phone charger that pops up for access to wired USB A&C charging ports. Under the worksurface is as a 3-pin socket for a laptop charger.

The only optional extra – perhaps for longer calls – is a stool. We recommend our adjustable-height Rocky: lightweight and compact, it easily stows away under the worksurface when not required.

Spoiled for choice

As you’d expect from Sven, NatterBox offers more choice as standard than any workplace phone booth on the market.

Specify the carcass in one of our high-quality finishes: MFC, 3D MFC, veneer or Gloss White. And, for added interest, specify the front panel on one of 24 NEW contemporary Designer Lacquers.

The acoustic foam panels may be upholstered in any of our standard screen fabrics.

Installation is simple. Natterbox is supplied ready for onsite assembly, with fan and PIR fitted and hardwired. Electrical connections are simple plug-and-play.
