Inspired by Cherry Blossom Sakura is a new Ecorugs design from Louis De Poortere that’s 100% recyclable through the Take Care Program.

In Sakura, Louis De Poortere’s design team has created a graphical representation of cherry blossom trees for a rug that has a delicate and poetic atmosphere which celebrates the timeless beauty of Japan’s cherry trees in bloom. The floral motif evokes the new beginnings of spring and captures the beauty of the blossom that’s become a symbol of Japanese culture.

As part of Louis De Poortere’s Ecorugs collection, Sakura is 100% recyclable through the Take Care Program. Once at the end of its life, the QR code is scanned on the rug’s label to arrange free collection and ensure that the rug is refurbished and reused or recycled back into a new Ecorug. Take Care is made possible by every Ecorug’s 100% polyester construction, right down to the label and anti-slip backing.

Alan Russell, sales director, says: “When it comes to commercial interiors, rugs are often used to zone in soft seating areas and add a layer of flexibility so the space can adapt to changing needs. However, these spaces are often exposed to more frequent replacement cycles than in residential homes, so what happens to the rug at end of life should be considered when choosing a design. Our Take Care Programme is free to use and gives us control at end of life. This is important to be able to promise that it will be refurbished and reused, or it will be completely recycled by our partners for use as raw material in a new Ecorug.”

Currently, Sakura is made with GRS cetified 20% recycled PET. Woven in Belgium, the hand-finished design is available in a range of standard sizes from 80cm x 150cm up to 280cm x 390cm, including a 140cm diameter circular rug.
