Heradesign ceiling panels are manufactured from wood-wool, sourced from PEFC and FSC certified forests. They have an organically, textured woven surface and are available in a choice of fibres ranging from 1-3mm thick, and in a number of different sizes and edge details.

Emsworth Baptist Church has a new building on the edge of conservation area in Hampshire. The church has a modern, minimalist interior with flexible, multi-function spaces. Haverstock, designers and architects of the project, specified Heradesign ceilings from Knauf AMF throughout the building to help fulfil two criteria as they explained: "Creating a simple design for the church interior was one of our main objectives. The Heradesign panels work in harmony with the finished look we wanted. They also help to control the reverberation times in the open areas."

For the church, the architect chose Heradesign in its natural colour which fits with the minimalist style of the interior. But Heradesign can be colour matched to a wide range of custom colours including those from popular systems such as RAL, NCS or StoColor, enabling architects to realise their precise vision.

The central area of the church is the community kitchen which can serve the foyer space, hall or auditorium depending on how the building is being used. In this arrangement all rooms work extremely hard and allow maximum flexibility depending on the function or group size. Acoustic control is key in helping to ensure this flexible arrangement works. Heradesign provides the highest rating (Class A) for sound absorption, reducing ambient sound levels and ensuring speech can be heard.

Heradesign is quick and easy to install. At Emsworth Church the panels are fitted using a concealed grid to create an almost seamless finish. Broadsword Projects installed Heradesign in the roof of the church. Director, Paul McInerney explained why he enjoyed working with Heradesign: "Right from the outset Knauf AMF were extremely helpful: giving us samples at the beginning of the project and supplying all the necessary information we'd need to complete the work to a high standard. The installation ran seamlessly. We found the panels easy to cut and work with, even on the sloped roof areas which were 6 metres high. The overall finish was aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the ceiling panels help to balance the acoustics in the large areas."

Heradesign is a versatile solution because it can be installed in a number of ways: as a suspended ceiling with either a concealed or exposed grid system, or screw mounted to the ceiling. If a suspended ceiling cannot be installed or additional acoustic control is required, the panels can be hung as rafts or baffles, or fixed as wall panels, making Heradesign an ideal choice for new builds, refurbishment projects or historic buildings.
