#9 Schleudersitz 'slingshot bench'

Renowned for her gravity-defying designs, German artist Cornelia Konrads has applied her techniques to this catapult bench named Schleudersitz, meaning 'ejection seat' (2010).

The bench is perched on a park hill in Eining, Neustadt a.d. Donau, Germany, with a large wooden slingshot made from a tree trunk planted in the ground and arched in front of it. Red rubber covers the distance between the bench and slingshot, reinforcing the effect of movement.

The installation was for the Flugobjekte / Flying Objects International Art exhibition on the vineyard.
