James Turrell: Passages of Light

James Turrell is an artist who uses light as his medium to challenge the limits of perception. Works here include early experiments with light, immersive colour-saturated environments, and new projects using holograms and other emerging tech.

Electronic music transformed the music industry, but took art, design, fashion and technology with it. Focussing on the likes of Kraftwerk, BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Jeff Mills and Jean-Michel Jarre, exhibits range from the instruments behind the sound to Peter Saville’s pioneering graphics.

‘Home Stories’ 100 Years, 20 Visionary Interiors

Organised around 20 iconic interiors by architects and designers including Adolf Loos, Lina Bo Bardi, Elsie de Wolfe and Assemble, as well as Andy Warhol and Cecil Beaton, this exhibition traces the changes in ways of living over the past century.

Salone del Mobile

Taking place amid the diversions of Milan’s design week, this annual furniture show expects more than 370,000 attendees from 188 different nations. All bases are covered, with exhibits across categories of traditional craftsmanship, the latest innovations, and timeless luxury.

State of Extremes

The museum’s 10th anniversary show reacts to its inaugural exhibition The State of Things, judging how the world and design has changed in the intervening decade. Looking at the present’s extreme weather, ideologies and inequalities, the exhibition considers design’s part in all this.
