BANEMA’S NEW showroom and commercial space in Lisbon opened its doors with a creative and inspiring design showcase using HIMACS acrylic stone. Featuring its Evergreen colour option, the space unites natural wooden furniture with industrial-style decoration and designer goods.

Architecture practice Campos Costa Arquitetos was responsible for the design scheme, which features the striking furniture module made from HIMACS. ‘The aim was to create a space with rhythm that’s full of life, and above all where the feeling of comfort extends into several different and more intimate environments,’ explains head architect Pedro Campos Costa. It was initially designed to combine the concept of a materials showroom with a designer store. The result is a unique space offering a wide range of activities and materials and products.

All the areas in the establishment are organised around the Evergreen colour module, with lines and curved motifs sliding along the entire length of the premises. This striking layout provides several areas and zones that can be used as meeting spaces or mini showrooms. The sides of the module make use of the entire length of the space, allowing an optimal organisation and arrangement of large displays.

The large circular entrances are combined with furnishings designed with linear motifs, emulating the image of a large grid. It is all finished in the intense petrol blue colour and achieves the curvaceous aesthetics owing to the thermoformable properties of HIMACS. Its thermoplastic capabilities enable the material to be moulded without compromising colour richness.

In addition to the aesthetic and thermoformable characteristics of HIMACS, it is also a non-porous material, with its seamless surface preventing the build-up of dirt and bacteria. Its uniform nature makes it easy to clean and maintain.
