Porsche unveils plans for new US headquarters in Atlanta

Porsche Cars North America has unveiled plans for a $100 million project for construction of its new US headquarters at Jacoby Development's Aerotropolis Atlanta, US.

The automaker will relocate from its Sandy Springs, Georgia headquarters into a 175,000 square feet facility that will be built on an area of about 27 acres. The new facility will include the Porsche Experience Centre, a 1.6-mile driving circuit with off-road and on-road course for product demonstration and advanced driver training in addition to corporate offices, technical services, and conference facilities. The new structure will also comprise a Porsche restoration shop and a restaurant. The campus will be constructed under a build-to-suit transaction arranged by Cushman & Wakefield.

Atlanta and Georgia will provide Porsche with economic incentives worth over $3 million to facilitate the move. Construction work on the new headquarters is scheduled to begin by the end of 2011 with completion scheduled for mid-2013.

Porsche is the first significant firm to plan projects at Aerotropolis which is being redeveloped by Jacoby Development. The Aerotropolis redevelopment project incorporates recycling 95% of a current automotive manufacturing structure on a 130-acre mixed-use site. The site is expected to feature 6.5 million square feet of office, hotel, conference centre, retail and data centre space along with a parking facility with a capacity of 4000.
