PaperAwards announce shortlist for the best in stationary design

Who doesn’t like brand new stationary? Is there anything better than a beautiful new diary to make you feel like the most organised person in the world? We don’t think so and neither does Top Drawer, organisers of the UK's leading retail trade event for creative lifestyle buyers.

That’s why they launched the PaperAwards, set up to recognise the creativity and innovation of talented exhibitors within the Greetings and Stationary area who are attending the September 2017 Top Drawer show.

The finalists have been announced and they offer some beautiful design ideas. The shortlist consists of three categories: Engaging Print, Engaging Use of Colour and Emotive Design. Finalists were selected by a panel of stationery industry experts including Geraldine James from Selfridges, Kirsty White, Product & Design Manager at Heals, Jess Sims, UK Marketing Manager at West Elm, Mark Jessett and Janet Stevens of G.F Smith, Abigail Warner, owner & founder of Abigail Warner and PaperFest and finally Top Drawer’s Show Director Alejandra Campos.

We thought we would show you some of our favourite picks from the shortlist whilst resisting the urge to immediately run to Paperchase.

Lone Tree

Lone Tree has been shortlisted for the ‘Emotive Design’ category. The collection submitted for the awards uses SC heavy matt cream paper stock, emotive printed design and gold foil detailing. Each card features a message in debossed and foiled gold expressing an emotional, celebratory or inspirational message. The collection includes 26 designs following a black and gold colour palette.

Ohh Deer

Designed by the in-house team at Ohh Deer, the Colour Blocking range is brand new for 2017. The designs include muted pastels juxtaposed with zestier tones. The colourful note books will brighten up any office. Ohh Deer also submitted its Spring/ Summer stationary range called 'Splash' which consists of quirky patterns and textures. Ohh Deer has been shortlisted for the ‘Exciting Use of Colour’ category.

Spots and Stripes

Spots and Stripes have been shortlisted for the 'Exciting Use of Colour' category. It's ‘Everyday Notes’ range are made using brush and ink to reflect the message on the card. Using a fluorescent orange and black palette they have successfully achieved a range that is fun and full of intensity. The cards are designed for everyday use as Spots and Stripes wanted to encourage people to send a card instead of a text.
