Oak Hill Hospital begins work on new operating room and bed tower


The Oak Hill Hospital in Florida, US has started construction of its $50 million operating room and bed tower expansion.


The project has been designed by Nashville, Tennessee-based Gould Turner Group, Incorporation and will be developed by Nashville, Tennessee's Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC. Work will involve expansion of the facility by about 70,000 square feet and refurbishing of an additional 30,000 square feet.

There will be creation of a new two-storey inpatient bed tower as part of the project. The tower will house 36 private rooms. The facility will now also add eight operating room suites. The endoscopy suites will be overhauled whereas the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit space will be substituted and expanded to 18 beds. The operating rooms, endoscopy suites, recovery room, anesthesia and laboratory will be equipped with advanced technology. The upgraded facility will also incorporate non-invasive cardiology and laboratory support.

Other features of the project include a makeover and expansion of the Central Sterile Department, expansion of the power plant, and creation of new parking area for patients, guests and families. The hospital will have an acute care bed capacity of 262 following the completion of the project with 50% of the beds being private. A total of 18 new beds will be Universal and will facilitate all levels of care.

Construction is due to be completed by late 2013.
