Methodist Hospital to construct new hospital tower in Indianapolis

US-based Clarian Health plans to spend a sum of $375 million to $500 million for a new patient care tower at Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis.

The proposed tower would feature 175 to 250 beds, which would enable Methodist to make all of its hospital rooms private. About half of the Methodist's beds at present are in pairs in semi-private rooms.

According to the sources, Clarian plans to convert all of its three downtown hospitals namely Methodist, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children into private rooms. These hospitals receive more than 850,000 patients per year.

Part of Clarian plans includes starting work on a $75 million neurosciences outpatient center across the street from the hospital, this year. An approximate amount of $27 million has been spent for the renovation of its operating rooms, which was done in order to accommodate more neurosurgeries.

The tower is expected to be completed by 2015.
