Marco Pierre White to open skyline restaurant at The Cube

British chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White (MPW) has announced plans to open a striking skyline restaurant at The Cube, a landmark building in the centre of Birmingham, England.

Marco Pierre White’s new eatery, Steakhouse Bar and Grill, will occupy the 25th floor of the iconic The Cube building as part of a £10 million ($15.6 million) hotel, restaurant and luxury health club and spa deal signed with Sanguine Hospitality Limited.

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill will provide breathtaking, panoramic views of the city from a fabulous new 14,000 square feet venue. The restaurant will offer a more casual dining option with an MPW twist including a Tea Room & licensed bar area with outdoor seating on the towpath. The restaurant will be joined by a brand new, four-star Hotel Indigo on floors 23 and 24, while The Club & Spa will sit within the ground floor public levels of the building, with all three phases set to open in mid-2011.

Hotel Indigo is a boutique style hotel concept new to the UK from the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) brand stable and will be owned and operated by Sanguine. The Club & Spa mirrors award-winning venues in Chester and Bristol, featuring a wet area comprising a hydrotherapy pool, five thermal treatments rooms, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a ten-room luxury spa.

Inspired by the vision of award-winning architect, Ken Shuttleworth, The Cube is a prestigious landmark building that animates the canal side, offering cutting edge design and breathtaking views in a designer neighbourhood. Paying homage to the city’s jewellery heritage, Ken Shuttleworth and his team at Make architects visualised a shimmering structure, hovering above a glazed base with bold, geometric form.

This development is Sanguine’s first venture in the Midlands, complementing its UK portfolio of ten venues, and was secured following a funding package by Downing Corporate Finance and Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets.

Sanguine’s in-house construction company, Denizen Contracts LLP, will move on site on 4 January 2010 and will take the helm to complete the phased fit out, with all elements expected to open in August 2011.

Sanguine Hospitality Limited, which owns and operates hotels, restaurants and spas across the UK, plans to open eight hotels over the next 24 months and will open four hotels in 2011. Since forming in 2005, Sanguine has entered into licensed agreements with Wyndham, IHG, Hilton and Marco Pierre White. Sanguine Hospitality is currently developing hotels with IHG and Hilton in the UK.
