London Design Festival: Designjunction announces installations and exhibitions

Designjunction returns to Kings Cross this year, bringing together some of the most iconic design brands and leading design professionals.

Featuring an eclectic mix of 200 brands including furniture, lighting, accessory, material and technology, the event is set to be a design extravaganza. The show will take over five destinations in the area including Cubitt House and Cubitt Park, The Canopy, Granary Square and The Crossing.

Not only will there be a huge variety of brands to choose from. The event also promises pop up shops, installations and large scale activations, so there won’t be a minute to catch your breath!

Here at Designcurial we can hardly wait, so we thought we would provide you with a sneak preview of what is in store at this year’s designjunction.

The Brands

The four-day event offers the latest launches from iconic brands in the industry. We would be here all day if we listed them all, but highlights include:  Deadgood, Decode, Design House Stockholm, Fredericia, Friends & Founders, Humanscale, Kirkby Design x Eley Kishimoto, Icons of Denmark, Isokon Plus, James Burleigh, Marset, Morgan Furniture, OMK 1965, TON, Very Good & Proper and so many more.

The Installations

Turkishceramics are set to unveil ‘Gateways’ by Adam Nathaniel Furman. The beautiful series of gates are made of tiny colourful ceramic tiles pieced together to create a breath taking installation for visitors to walk through.

Campari- the Italian ape´ritif - will be transforming the canal into a mini Navigli-Tortona, serving cocktails from a customised barge.

If flowers are your thing, then the bold and beautiful floral installation by Bloomon is sure to leave you in full bloom.

Emerging Design

Rado will announce the winner of the Rado Star Prize UK which searched for the next generation of young British designers in interior, industrial and technology design. The culmination if the entries will be showcased in a spectacular exhibition and awards ceremony at designjunction.  The theme of this year’s competition was Design meets time. Expect to see some innovative and timeless product concepts.

The future of the car has been discussed a lot recently. Car manufacturers, Renault, set a challenge for Central Saint Martins’ MA Industrial Design students to predict the future of car mobility, see what they came up with at designjunction.

Blueprint Photography Awards

This year Blueprint Magazine launched its first ever Blueprint iGuzzini Architecture Photography Awards. After a public vote two overall winners will be announced during designjunction.
