LG Electronics to construct new HQ in Englewood Cliffs

The multinational electronics company LG Electronics Inc. has received the approval from the state, county and local agencies to construct its new eco-friendly North American headquarters campus in Englewood Cliffs.

To be constructed on a 27 acre lot, the 493,167 square feet office building will be located at 111 Sylvan Avenue. Designed by HOK, the project plan will feature ample open space and expansive green buffers with trees and shrubs along its borders to the south and north to provide a large physical separation from nearby residences and adjacent property owners.

With its environmentally state-of-the-art design, the project aims at reducing 30% to 35% of carbon footprint. It features strategies for daylight harvesting to reduce the need for electric lights. About 50,000 square feet of solar panels have been installed on the main wing and parking garage roofs that will generate on-site power.

Interior planted walls form the feature walls in the two interconnected lobbies, creating a winter garden for LG’s employees. The project also includes the transformation of 200,000 square feet of existing asphalt and hardscape areas on the site into park-like landscaped areas.

The project is expected to earn LEED Gold and ENERGY STAR certifications.
