Koichi Takada Architects designs the Cave Restaurant

Koichi Takada of Sydney-based architectural firm Koichi Takada Architects has completed the Cave Restaurant in Sydney, Australia.

The cave-like restaurant features a wooden appearance. The tables, chairs and the entire furnishing of the facility has been done in wood, which gives rise to a series of brown colors that blend into one another. Across the length of the restaurant, wave like grids that begin from one end of the floor rise above to form the roof. The spaces in between the grids have been used to install lighting fixtures that emit soft yellow light and create another pattern due to their placement.

The restaurant features a number of acoustic curvatures that have been tested and developed with the help of computer remodeling system. Special Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology has been installed in this restaurant for creating and cutting every single timber grain, along with the use of computer-generated 3-D data.

This technique employed by the architects gives the effect of a sound-proof studio, bringing the noise levels heard at the restaurants to a zero degree and creating an intimate dining ambiance.
