Ignite Group launches Senkai restaurant in London

The Ignite Group has launched a Japanese restaurant named Senkai in London, UK.

Slated to be the first green Japanese restaurant in London, the new facility is segregated into four separate segments. It includes a 125-cover dining room, a pair of private dining spaces with a maximum seat capacity of 30, a counter-top dining bar fitted with 20 seats, and a cocktail lounge with an optimum capacity to house 50.

The design of the building interior has been conceived by Christopher Prain while Conran Contracts was in charge of styling the lighting and furniture pieces installed in the facility. The new restaurant incorporates a Japanese theme with bronze walls, woven flooring, candle and subliminal lighting fixtures, oriental flowers and handcrafted minimalistic-looking timber furniture. Various areas of the building such as the lounge, restaurant, and private dining rooms sport different materials and tones to create a unique look.

The lounge comprises an open bar that is equipped with veneer-finished sofas, Tosai lounge chairs and Moooi Random LED Floor Lights. The look is accentuated through bronze walls adorned with a hand-painted Japanese wallpaper from De Gournay.

The main body of Senkai features Benchmark bespoke tables made of solid sycamore and Magis-Flower chairs by Pierre Paulin. There is also a marble bar top comprising a centre-piece seafood display. Multiple layers of natural figured sycamore positioned along the facility's rear wall synchronise with light to amplify the aesthetics. Several arched windows semi-screened with troughs of Asian grass allow natural light penetration inside. These lighting sources are complemented by a 1961 floor light from Miguel Mila and Santa & Cole's Tripode.
