If Only…

you could escape to another world when you went to a restaurant, says Emma Carter from Phoenix Wharf

INSTEAD OF finding your way to your usual table, you could be immersed straight into the atmosphere of another country, especially if you’re unable to get there in person and are longing to experience an Italian piazza in the summer, for example, or a woodland Black Forest picnic or a Swiss mountain-top dinner. Oasis pods would recreate each environment, with controlled heating and lighting to match the feel of the destination and wraparound light walls and ceilings playing real-time film from the desired location. There would be no counters or queues, with all prep and admin contained in a separate service area. Food – embodying and expressing the location – would be served through a hidden platform rising up from the ground. A cost- eff ective and planet-friendly way to sample culinary delights from far and wide.
