Harrison Medical Center inaugurates Poulsbo cancer care center

Harrison Medical Center's new Poulsbo outpatient cancer care center in Washington, US, includes a modern, fully-equipped chemotherapy treatment center.

The center, spread over 4,850 square feet and estimated to have cost $25 million, aims at providing care in an outpatient setting.

Douglas Coover, director of Campus Design and Construction, headed the architecture and design team of the center. The building has been designed to maintain the look and feel of the other campuses of the medical center in Bremerton, Silverdale, Port Orchard, and Belfair. Palette material has been used to construct the hospital.

Harrison Information Technology ensured the installation and working of the high-tech gadgetry in Poulsbo, and also provided training to the cancer center’s staff on the computer system. The center has been designed to emerge a one-stop medical oncology and chemotherapy center in Poulsbo, meeting the unique needs of cancer patients. The design focuses on organic flow, warm color, and comforting design for better healing purposes.

It includes a modern, fully-equipped chemotherapy treatment center, equipped with 10 chairs, onsite laboratory, six examination rooms, and patient navigators. The center will also offer nutritional medicine, support services and resources, and complementary therapies.

The hematology and oncology center at the Harrison Medical Center was opened for patient referrals on July 1, 2009.
