Halifax Health unveils ‘France Tower’ in Florida

Halifax Health has unveiled the $200 million, 10-story addition to the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, the ‘France Tower’.

The 180-single patient room tower adds more than 500,000 square feet of space. It features a spacious emergency department containing a trauma center and pediatric emergency department. Illinois-based architectural firm, Perkins + Will, was the project architect and the contractor was Robins & Morton.

The design of the lobby in the facility resembles that of a resort featuring a two-story ceiling and all-glass front facing a courtyard. The objective behind the design was to offer a comfortable design intended to ease tension and anxiety in patients.

The waiting area in the lobby features two divided portions in order to offer private space for families. The facility now includes lots of bathrooms.

The new emergency room has been designed to be user friendly, and is perfectly located to be visible from every direction. The patient rooms in the emergency room are spacious enough to accommodate family members also. The new tower also includes state-of-the-art equipment and is capable of withstanding a ‘Category 5’ hurricane.

The 764-bed Halifax Health Medical Center is owned by Halifax Health system, a system of hospitals and professional centers spread across the Volusia and Flagler counties of Florida. It is the largest health care system serving the counties of Volusia and Flagler.
