Delta Light has been busy recently as showcased by its installation for Milan Design Week in April.

Transforming the historic Palazzo Crivelli into a monumental lighting installation, the company showed off new collaborative products. It was an example of the architectural lighting company’s ability to successfully collaborate with artists, architects, and designers to create show stopping work, alongside its own in house designs.

Jan Ameloot, managing director of Delta Light said that the project aimed to “take visitors on an experiential journey, merging light, form, and architecture.”

Throughout Milan Design Week, the city unveils secret places which would have previously not been open to the public. Palazzo Crivelli was one of these places. To make the most of the mysterious setting, Delta Light created a striking black tunnel connecting the courtyard with the historical building and its sprawling garden. The dark surroundings provided a juxtaposing backdrop to the products on display.

The new collaborations were displayed in this conceptual environment, including designs by architects OMA, lighting designer Dean Skira and artist come designer Arik Levy.

In the garden, visitors could explore the design products. OMA showcased its three piece collection, XY180, which is inspired by three key elements in architecture; point, line and surface. The floor, wall and ceiling lights are for both individual and shared workspace.

Award-winning lighting designer Dean Skira’s showed off his latest lighting design, Polesano, which has been created for an urban setting. The light provides flexibility for the designer to create an individual set of optic characteristics, be that for a park, square or pedestrian walkway. No matter what lighting option, the overall aesthetic of the design will remain the same, regardless of the area.

Arik Levy presented new additions to the Butler collection. Butler is based on the traditional lamp design contrasted against natural elements. The lights can be fitted to any vertical object including trees, pillars or architecture.

All three of the designers collaborated with Delta Light on the scenography of their collections which resulted in a unique interaction between the product, the space and the visitor.

The Baroque setting of the Palazzo contrasted with the modern design of the products provided the ideal setting for the installation. Delta Light was able to create a multi-sensory experience through the use of mirrored facades, colourful 3D videos and architectural lighting effects.

Alongside its most recent collaborations, Delta Light also displayed in-house designs which included Superloop, an extensive range of slim circular and square shapes, offering a multitude of illumination options and the Magnetic Splitline, the latest addition to the Splitline collection.
