Chicago gets 300 North LaSalle

Connecticut-based architectural practice Pickard Chilton has completed 300 North LaSalle, a new landmark for Chicago's skyline, housing offices, retail outlets, and restaurants.

LaSelle, a new hub for the bustling business district of Chicago, is located on the north bank of the Chicago River, on the Near North Side community area of the city. The 60-story tower, spread over an area of 1.3 million square feet, houses offices, several restaurants, retail outlets, public spaces, and three levels of underground parking. The tower merges into its surrounding high-rise, while retaining a classic outline and sympathetic detailing.

Due to its location on the north bank of the Chicago River, the building features a half-acre sunlit waterfront public garden with direct access to the river's edge. The public space of the development has been integrated into the design, which offers both workers and the public a space for reflection and calm.

Developed by Chicago-based developer Hines, the project has obtained LEED Gold pre-certification, and plans to achieve LEED Gold certification by incorporating environment-friendly and energy-efficient materials and systems. The building is designed to maximize the use of daylight, while minimizing solar heat gain.
