Caticlan airport to offer modern facilities


Caticlan Airport of Boracay Island, Philippines, has taken up a modernization program to provide better services to passengers.


Godofredo P. Ramos Airport has taken up a renovation program to offer modern facilities to passengers. The George Yang-led consortium has been roped in to undertake road network improvement, and upgradation of airport facilities and air traffic control aids.

A 25-year build-rehabilitate-operate-transfer (BROT) agreement has been signed between the Caticlan International Airport Development Corporation, Department of Transportation and Communications, and Aklan representative Florencio Miraflores for the project.

The project work will commence in phases. The first phase will involve improvement and renovation of the existing terminal building, while Phase II involves extension of the runway from 950 meters to 2,100 meters.

Renovation of the Caticlan airport is being undertaken to increase tourist traffic in Boracay. It caters to local airlines of Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Zest Airways, Southeast Airlines and InterIsland Airlines carrying inbound tourists to Boracay.
