Bordon fire station to be upgraded into green exhibition centre

The Bordon fire station in the Bordon, East Hampshire, UK is undergoing a makeover to convert it into an exhibition centre.

The remodelled facility will comprise an exhibition house, a lecture room, meeting rooms, community and training amenities, as well as a space dedicated to the Woolmer Forest Heritage Society.

The new exhibition centre will be a model of sustainability and will include a host of green features such as use of high-performance insulation system throughout. The area below the floor will also be insulated. It will also utilise reclaimed materials including aged radiators and bricks.

The old lighting fixtures will be substituted with new lights which run low on energy consumption. In addition, the original exhaust extraction system used for pumping out fumes of fire engines will be replaced with an advanced ventilation system following the facelift.

The facility is slated to reopen by mid-2012.
