Bali Hai - waterfront restaurant to reopen
Bali Hai, a waterfront restaurant in San Diego, US, which is undergoing a $4 million renovation, will reopen its doors in April 2010.
The project includes a new dock that can accommodate 10 vessels, a new outdoor dining deck on the second level, a new pavilion and an art piece by Miki Iwasaki. The restaurant’s contemporary design is by architect Graham Downes.
There will also be a new menu, complete with Polynesian-theme dishes created by chef Christopher Powell. The restaurant, which offers dock-and-dine amenities for boaters, is also upgrading its wedding site which will serve as a waterfront wedding venue.
Larry Baumann, director of operations said that every surface will be renovated and will be new. The owners Susie and Larry Baumann welcomed this revamp.
The family-owned restaurant closed to undergo capital improvements as part of the lease agreement with its landlord, the Port of San Diego.
