Another book cover design that was subtle, but hugely effective, was the design created by Tony Palladino for Psycho. In stark black and white and featuring a giant typeface that looks as though it has been brutally slashed, Palladino’s ominous design gives a sense of the danger to come – if you dare to pick up the book. This was another cover design that also became the film adaptation’s poster, which only made the artwork more iconic.
