ROOM UNVEILS THE BOTANICAL BOOTH IN THE UK

Modular architecture designers collaborate with London-based Tuppence Collective to introduce limited edition Phone Booth created to bring the outdoors in

Wednesday 27th April: ROOM has announced the release of its Botanical Booth in the UK, a special edition Phone Booth featuring a tropical print created in collaboration with London surface designer studio, Tuppence Collective, designed to bring nature into the workplace and provide a peaceful place for creative exchange and collaboration.

ROOM, designers and manufacturers of modular office solutions, created the company’s flagship Phone Booth to offer businesses a sustainably produced, prefabricated turnkey private phone and video conference space. Easily assembled in less than 60 minutes, the booths provide a small footprint space and offer employees a quiet space to make room for relaxation, focus and creativity.

Each booth includes:

  • built-in desk with adjustable height and magnetic board
  • 1.6” sound insulation made from recycled materials to tune out noise
  • motion sensor to activate the fans and LED light for energy efficiency
  • silent fans and fresh air ventilation
  • built-in power sources

Created in collaboration with designers Alicia Perry and Rebecca Intavarant, founders of Tuppence Collective, the new limited edition Botanical Booth is the first custom-designed booth from ROOM and has been launched to illustrate the importance of integrating elements of the outdoors into the workspace.

Being exposed to plants and images of nature in the office has been shown to inspire creative thinking and boost productivity. The Botanical Booth combines both these ideas and the limited edition design has been inspired by the beauty of nature and in turn, aims to inspire a better, happier, more creative workplace. The striking banana leaf interior is reminiscent of a tropical paradise and offers a tranquil space to reduce stress, foster productivity and fuel better conversations.

Perry and Intavarant of Tuppence Collective found inspiration from the Arts and Crafts Movement, which is known for embracing images of nature and forms of medieval art. The two say they look for beauty in old trends, and after seeing the ROOM Phone Booth, inspiration struck to create a new perspective for the classic. They infused both old and new in their work with hand-painted botanical patterns. Says Perry, “Our pattern design is meant to truly transport employees once they step into the booth – allowing creativity to flourish by providing privacy and inspiration to the modern worker.”

Alejandra Albarran, ROOM’s Vice President of Workspace Strategy and Design comments: “This launch intends to bring elements of nature into the workplace. The nature inspired design aims to counteract the stress of the built environment by offering a refuge of visual natural plants, designed to soothe the mind on the busiest of days. Most often our workplaces ignore the deep human need for connection with nature. What I believe to be really powerful is if you can do both - create efficient spaces that also incorporate natural features, helping people feel inspired and engaged in the place where they work.”

ROOM is committed to making the working world more sustainable and was the first in the industry to be GREENGUARD certified. Over 1,000 recycled plastic bottles are used to engineer each of its modular products and for the Botanical Booth, the interior banana leaf design is printed on woven canvas featuring REPREVE® recycled polyester. The company's aim is to reduce the near 8.5 million tons of office furniture that ends up in landfill each year by replacing the traditional construction cycle with modular architecture.

The limited-edition Botanical Booth is on sale beginning Wednesday 27th April via uk.room.com/pages/botanical. There are a limited number available with prices starting at £4,395. The launch of the Botanical Booth follows the release earlier this year of Room for Zoom, a turnkey video collaboration suite for modern offices and workplaces to support businesses to better connect remote employees with those who have returned to the office. Room for Zoom launched in March, in collaboration with Zoom and HP.
