A family business with a love of wood
It all began in 1898 when Hans Peter Dinesen founded Jels Sawmill in the small town of Jels in Southern Jutland in Denmark. The company then took the family's name, and Dinesen Floors was established.
The love of wood and Hans Peter's passion for working with the best quality wood the forest could offer drove the company forward. For five generations, this passion has been inherited, and the craftsmanship refined and passed on to the Dinesen we know today. To this day, Dinesen's principles of responsibility, curiosity, care and quality are the same, and our beautiful floor planks are still produced in the small town of Jels, where it all began.
We care for nature's most precious material
Taking care of the forest is deeply rooted in who we are. That is why Dinesen wood comes from family-owned forests in Europe, where skilled foresters for centuries have watched over the forest and preserved its ecological balance and biodiversity, and secured the best conditions for growth.
We select the best trees one at a time when they are ready to be felled. It provides light and space for the new generation, sprouting on the forest floor. Each tree represents nature's best growth, and it is important to us to track the raw wood from the forest to our production, where we strive to utilise each part of the trunk.
The Natural coice
Add life and authenticity to the floor with Douglas Natural. Our Douglas Natural variant tells a story about the tree's life and experiences, told in particular by the knots. To us, a knot is neither a flaw nor an imperfection. On the contrary. Knots are little secrets that are worth preserving in the planks. The overall expression choosing Douglas Natural is a floor with character and motion - a one-of-a-kind floor.
Pink tones in Douglas Natural compliment Nichetto's Pink Villa.
Behind the light pink facade of Nichetto Studio's new headquarters, design stories are born. On the first floor, Dinesen Douglas Natural floors co-narrate the stories. The slightly reddish tone of the wood and the knots so full of life complement Nichetto's universe of design.
