Formica Group provide two contrasting work surfaces to create a stunning countertop for a kitchen island.

How were you commissioned?:    
We were hired to provide a countertop surface for the island and to find design ideas later for the other elements of the kitchen, starting with the choice of flooring for the island.

What was the brief from the client and how much were they involved?:    
The client wanted a dark and matte surface that gives a luxurious look and a touch of modernity. We chose together the surface of countertops and proposed thereafter the ideas for the other elements. At this stage, the client only approves the ideas.

How did the brief affect the materials and design choices?:    
We have a multutide of products, finishes and colors. The more we know what the customer has in mind, the better we can offer them the best choice.

How did your previous experience help you with this project?:    
We have been advising thousands of customers since the beginning of Formica Group. Our experts are also designers ready to provide their valuable advice to find the best layout to realize the projects they have in mind.
 
What do you feel were the most unusual design elements of the project?:    
The client had proposed the idea of using two completely different materials for the island, to give an eclectic and warm look. The wood surface added to the laminate surface produces an astonishing contrast that automatically adds cachet to the room.

How do you think this project is pushing design forward? What makes it special?:    
The modern look, the mix of texture, the use of color and noble materials provide a timeless look to the room.
