ARTTA Concept Studio design a stunning lounge and bar interior for Hotel Cozi.
How were you commissioned?:
We were commissioned by the Hotel as we have designed the Hotel's interior before.
What was the brief from the client and how much were they involved?:
The client wanted to have a restaurant and bar in a totally different dimension compared to the hotel interior, enabling the customer to relax and unwind as they step in the Cozi Lounge.
How did the brief affect the materials and design choices?:
We have decorated the restaurant and bar with an Art Deco theme in mind, with a combination of gold and a different variety of stones for a sophisticated and elegant finish.
How did your previous experience help you with this project?:
We have designed several projects including restaurants and hotels. As the space is always a limitation in Hong Kong, such a small and crowded city, we have gained the experience in maximising the sense of space by using different design concept and materials.
Can you explain the layout of the project:
As the ceiling is quite low and the space is not big, we have use different patterns to increase the sense of space and to separate the restaurant in few parts. The whole interior is then united by the metallic elements. Moreover, a unique pattern was created and used around the interiors surrounding, from the use of the different metals to form layers and help enhance the height of this restaurant. We have decorated the restaurant and bar with an Art Deco theme in mind, with a combination of gold and different variety of stones for a sophisticated and elegant finish.
What problems or challenges did you face?:
There was a design challenge that Cozi Lounge was located in an industrial area. To provide a relaxing atmosphere and environment to customers, several patterns and combination uses of materials are adopted to create a grand and elegant space, so that customers can enjoy their time in the lounge even in an urban area.
What do you feel were the most unusual design elements of the project?:
Although the restaurant is situated in an industrial area, we did not design the space in an industrial style. Instead, the restaurant is in an elegant and grand style with a metallic element flowing through the whole design, bringing out a sophisticated but cool and dynamic feeling.
How do you think this project is pushing design forward? What makes it special?:
It is unusual to have an elegant and sophisticated restaurant and bar in an industrial area, surrounded by factories and buildings. This project breaks the limitations of the location and environment, bringing a brand new perception to industrial areas.
