Zaha Hadid reveal new plans for luxury mix-use skyscraper

Zaha Hadid Architects has revealed new plans for its new Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Melbourne, Australia. The stunning skyscraper due to open in 2023, looks like a giant has stacked a series of vases on top of each other. The bottom two ‘vases’ have a honey comb façade, whereas the top tier has a vertical design.

Pasca di Magliano, Zaha Hadid Architects project director said: “The tower’s design conveys the wide variety of interior spaces within…with each different vase housing the bespoke guestrooms, suites, residences or amenities of Mandarin Oriental's renowned service and standards.”

The luxury mix- use sky scraper will not only operate as a hotel for 196 guests, but also a home for 148 private residents who will live in the top section of the building. Located in the financial district of Melbourne it will offer spectacular views across the city.

The Mandarin Oriental will also feature an all-day dining restaurant and a bar with a landscaped terrace. Guests and residents will be able to make the most of a spa and a number of relaxation and beauty facilities.

The glamorous 185 meter project is to be developed by Australian developers, Landream, and will be Mandarin Oriental’s first hotel in Australia.

Pasca di Magliano said: “It is an honour to be working in Melbourne with Landream and the Mandarin Hotel Group on this unique project that takes inspiration from the finest examples of historic architecture within the central Business District, where details within the masonry bring a rich architectural rhythm to the city.”
