What not to miss at Northern Design Festival 2017

London Design Festival wrapped up last week, so, to fill the design shaped hole in our hearts we are getting excited about Northern Design Festival (NDF) which kicks off on 3 November.

Created to promote and support creatives in the North of England, the festival brings together innovative artists, designers and makers from the top region of the country and beyond.

This years’ theme is material matters. Without further ado here is our list of what not to miss at the festival.

Material Matters

Bringing the best in interior design, graphic design, fashion, surface design, product design and photography from Newcastle College students and alumni, Material Matters is a must see.

Design NOW

This one-day symposium will launch the festival. Leading designers and creatives will gather in the North East to listen to speakers including graphic artist, printmaker and designer Anthony Burrill, whose work is held in the V&A and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum and graphic designer, writer and speaker with expertise in multi-sensory typography Sarah Hyndman and many more.

Design Source

A new addition to the 2017 festival, Design Source is a curated selling exhibition offering the best furniture, product, textiles, wallpaper lighting, ceramics and jewellery from across the North of England.

The 2017 Northern Design Festival takes place from 3-8 November at venues across Newcastle and Gateshead, including the historic Assembly House as the Festival hub where most exhibitions are held, and nearby Cooper’s Studios.
