The UK’s most luxurious halls of residence
#5 Dean Clarke Lofts
Exeter
Dean Clarke Lofts (DCL) from Collegiate student accommodation looks like something you might see a student fresh out of university living in.
A private accommodation available to students, DLC has redefined the site of what was originally opened as Dean Clarke House in 1743, a hospital, as a contemporary and elegant space.
The sophisticated and fully-equipped kitchen features polished wooden countertops and plenty of cupboard space. The multiple-level apartment is highlighted by a decadent lounge with plush couches and a wall-mounted flat screen TV. Climb the sharp ladder-like stairs to reach the spacious bedroom and study area, where a double bed, desk and chair, wardrobe, pin board and shelving fit comfortably, and large windows soak it in natural light.
The deluxe bathroom further complements the apartment, while beautiful views of the surrounding landscape elevate the residence, again, with plenty of natural light.
Should you step out of the apartment, you can take yourself to a nearby partner accommodation that includes a gym, cinema, study rooms and communal areas. This residence also includes the Cozy Club, a restaurant/bar taking up one of the old hospital wings and which you can enter through the hospital's chapel entrance.
Contemporary and neat, DCL is steeped in history from its building that spans many centuries, with original wood ceilings and winding staircases. The exterior boasts a warm red brick and neat white trim.
