Turning architectural wonders into fashion catwalks

Both a supermodel and a fashion show producer, Jessica Minh Anh’s iconic fashion shows prove that catwalks don’t need to be in design studios.

Seen as one of the world’s most innovative fashion show producers, supermodel Jessica Minh Anh has continuously made history with her extraordinary catwalk concepts. Over the years, she has designed and produced catwalks atop a range of famous architectural landmarks including London’s Tower Bridge, the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Canyon Skywalk, which broke the record for the world’s highest fashion show.

Well known for hosting ‘catwalks on water’ – on the Seine and Hudson river – Jessica has also made an impact by subtly promoting alternative energy sources. One of her famous catwalks was solar powered, taking place at the Germasolar plant; another promoted hydroelectric power when she strode across the Hoover Dam – a site that controls flooding and provides water and electricity to millions of homes across three states in the USA.

Most recently, Jessica has officially added Hong Kong to her list of famous catwalk venues. The J Winter Fashion Show 2018 featured the city’s skyline as a backdrop, and took place on the sundeck of the Costa neoRomantica cruise ship. Successfully celebrating a new generation of female designers, the catwalk included pieces from Pakistani designer Syeda Amera, American designer Mimi Tran and Indonesian label XIAOFEN COUTURE.

Another fascinating element of Jessica’s catwalks are the hair styles that have become iconic in their own right. Her latest runway look was complimented by a unique hair structure that resembled multiple-sail boats in the angular, Asian style. Previous hair structures are just as glamourous; one was an impressively tall, diamond-tiered design that Jessica displayed at the J Summer Fashion Show at the Gemasolar solar plant in Spain.

Other hair designs have included a miniature Eiffel Tower structure, which reflected her extraordinary catwalk that took place inside Paris’ historic landmark. In 2014, Jessica set another milestone within the fashion world with a 128 metre long catwalk on Singapore’s architectural wonder, Gardens by the Bay – and her flora inspired hair structure was a magnificent design to match the natural environment around her.

Jessica's catwalks always make an effort to promote modern fashion design, as well as ingenious architectural structures. For instance, the J Summer Fashion Show 2017 at the Hoover Dam transformed the masterpiece of modern engineering. Again, amazing designers were able to display their summer collections, and Jessica’s hair structure was created with diamond like peaks, alluding to the wondrous landscape around the venue.

Redefining the traditional catwalk and promoting a new generation of fashion designers, Jessica Minh Anh has made an impact on both the fashion world and the architectural world, bringing these two sectors together with her incredible catwalks. With a track record of producing 3 iconic catwalks a year, the only question is, where will Jessica go next?
