The world's 10 best mazes
6. Penpont maze, Brecon, Wales
Penpont maze was planted as a tribute to the new millennium - and sign of renewed hope and resurgence, and it is suggested that it is the largest representation of the Green Man in the world.
Located on the Penpont Estate, Brecon, Wales, the maze was designed by David Goff Eveleigh and commissioned by Gavin and Vina Hogg, the owners of the private guesthouse.
Penpont maze is just as beautiful in the winter
To create the maze, materials were collected locally - the hedge is comprised of 4,500 beech saplings and yews from the estate woodlands, with pebbles from the River Usk, Quartz from The River Wye and most remarkably, the standing stone and stone flags were quarried from the Black Mountains.
Crafted with many twists and turns, the private maze features a formal sun garden, moon garden, peaceful seating, the heart labyrinth, and at the centre upon completing the maze there is a beautiful wild flower meadow.

Penpont maze is a private establishment and the maze is only accessible through prior arrangement.
