The 10 Best Public Toilet Designs of 2017

#6 : Gdansk Public Toilet

Design: Schleifer & Milczanowski Architekci

Location: Gdansk, Poland

As part of the drive to make the city of Gdansk match-fit and ready to host the  2012 UEFA European Championship, these public toilets were designed to be practical and stylish, bringing vibrancy to the city with their unique shape.

Whilst undertaking a feasibility study, designers Schleifer & Milczanowski Architekci found that they would need to design a structure that involved minimal earthworks. Therefore, the team settled on a prefabricated option whilst putting the public toilet together. The structure's cylindrical form bulges at the base in a shape reminiscent of a rain drop; meanwhile, the vertical steel ribs surrounding the public toilet's exterior double as a bike rack, making sure the structure will always be used by its community.
