Spiced Honey is Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2019

Not sure how to best use Dulux's Colour of the Year 2019, Spiced Honey? As the leading authority for colour and design, Dulux has also shared four ColourFutures™ palettes that support this beautiful amber tone:

Warm Neutrals – A Space to Think

This ‘think’ palette uses Spiced Honey and a variety of warm neutral colours as a base, adding in touches of soft pink, vibrant burgundy and deep blue for a sophisticated addition. This is a palette for any space where relaxation, contemplation and focus need to take place. To emphasise the smart look, Dulux recommend using polished woods, mid-century furniture and graphic rugs to bring the space to life.

Soft Pastels – A Space to Dream

Romantic, powdery pinks and blues have been combined to create calm in this ‘Dream’ palette, which helps create a soothing environment. The palette works in any space that needs to encourage imagination and relaxation, and could be of particular interest for healthcare projects. Delicate fabrics and plain, pale woods can also be used to centre the space.

Intense Pigments – A Space to Love

The warmest of Dulux’s 2019 palettes, ‘Love’ includes richly pigmented shades such as deep, forest green, bold terracotta red and rich teal. These colours can be used to subliminally bring people together, using the reds to give a warm, lively feel without becoming overbearing. Adding wooden furniture and botanical prints with this palette can create a perfect social or homely environment.

Bold Brights – A Space to Act

The final palette of 2019 is ‘Act’, a playful collection of colours that Dulux suggest can encourage dynamism. The palette includes vivid reds and greens amongst paler pinks and blues or crisp greys and whites. This palette is ideal for education projects where occupants need energising – or in residential spaces, it can be brought to life with bold graphic shapes and reclaimed furniture.
