Sci-Fi Lullabies

I loved all the stuff Peter did with Nick Knight for Suede, but this sleeve used a photograph by John Kippin. Now, it gets personal. I once did a sleeve for Suede, it was a sort of hand-me-down from something that Peter was doing with Wolfgang Tillmans that was rejected; so I was recruited at the last minute. My Suede sleeve was one of the worst things I've ever done; something I'm ashamed of... it went terribly wrong but I couldn't stop them using it. This experience was a great lesson, and looking at Peter's Sci-Fi Lullabies sleeve, well, I look at it with envy. I expect it's a case of Peter saying; 'This is THE sleeve This is WHY it's great.' It's an illustration of the confidence you've got to have with a difficult band; it's a brilliant record sleeve... and I wish I'd used a 'found' image.'
