The seventh edition of the 'creative quarter's' three-day event returns this month, with the promise of providing a rich and varied exploration of London's design district.

With the event's previous main venue, the Grade II listed Farmiloe Building, now being redeveloped, the Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) organisers have introduced a new layout for the festival. Featuring a 'central spine' the festival will now stretch from Exmouth Market in the north to Smithfield in the south, with architecture practice OMMX delivering the new master plan.

The bigger-than-ever CDW will feature eight exhibition venues, including four specially built structures and firm favourites, such as the Crypt of St James and House of Detention.

Different parts of Brewhouse Yard will also be temporarily transformed by two of its residents, architecture practices Studio Egret West (see above picture) and BDP, while the Lyall, Bills & Young Architects-designed Goldsmiths' Centre hosts CDW's Conversations at Clerkenwell. CDW's extended boundaries means more than 85 showrooms will be taking part in the event with installations, talks, product launches, parties and fringe activities packed into three inspirational days.
